Unboxing the LG Bluetooth Stereo Headset HBS-730

I always wanted to have a bluetooth headset. But I don’t want one that dangles in my ear.

But, when I got the LG Bluetooth Stereo Headset HBS-730, I immediately like its unique comfortable wearing style design.

When I opened the box, other than the headset, it contains two sets of extra earbuds, the USB charging cable and the user manual.

It’s so light at 32 grams! I wore it and I didn’t even feel its weight at all. The Memory FlexNeck Band fit snugly in my nape. I just don’t like its plastic feel at the back of my neck.

On the left side we find the sliding power switch, the volume button, the call button which also serves as the LED indicator, the charging port and the microphone.

On the right side, the track forward/rewind button and the play/pause button. When not in use, I can put the earphones at the magnetic earbud storage. No way that I would lose my earphones again (unless, of course, I misplace the entire headset).

I immediately set out to pair it with my mobile phone. It was a breeze! There are two ways to pair it, the easy pairing and the manual pairing. I chose the easy pairing. I just switched it on. When LED indicator flashed solid blue, I just scanned for it and immediately found the headset. Press “pair.” That’s it! Through its audible pairing assistance, I heard a voice prompt telling me that, “Your headset is paired.” With its Advanced Multipoint, I then connected the LG HBS-730 to my laptop. Again, pairing was  faster than I could say “Bluetooth.” With its HD Voice support, I could actually check its battery status. A voice prompt would tell me if the battery is high, medium or low. A fully-charged headset is up to 10 hours music time and up to 15 hours of talk time. (Charging time is only less than 2 hours.)

I listened to music through YouTube using my laptop. With its Enhanced Bass Response and Sound Quality, the audio came out crisp and clear. Then, I made a call using my mobile. As soon as my call got connected, it automatically muted the music. The only catch is that my voice, as my wife described it, sounds like it’s coming from a cave. When I stopped the call, I heard the music once again. Pressing the call button for a second activates the last number redial.

It appears the LG Bluetooth Stereo Headset HBS-730 is more than a headset. It can read my SMS for me (via LG BT Reader app downloadable thru Google Play) and even have a vibration call alert.

Indeed, the LG has redefined the bluetooth headset. It’s something one would be proud to wear and use.
